ABOUT US

Who We Are

A group of young people who grew up, study, and live in Beijing — and genuinely want to introduce it to you.

Background

Where We Come From

We are students at the University of International Relations in Beijing. Our classrooms are full of conversations about the relationships between nations, the distances between cultures, how misunderstandings form, and how understanding gets built.

At some point, we realised those conversations shouldn't only happen in a classroom.

Every year, millions of international visitors come to Beijing. Many of them leave having seen the Great Wall and eaten Peking duck — but having never sat down and actually talked with a young Beijinger. We happen to be exactly those people. So we decided to do something about it.

Core Philosophy

What We Believe

  • Real cultural exchange doesn't happen at the entrance to a landmark. It happens over breakfast, in a back alley, in an honest conversation.
  • We believe that what international visitors lack in Beijing isn't information — it's a local they can actually trust.
  • We believe the distance between Chinese young people and young people from the rest of the world is much smaller than most people think. It just needs a real opportunity to close.
  • We believe that telling China's story doesn't require grand narratives. It only requires real details: a phrase of authentic Beijing dialect, a breakfast stall that locals actually go to, a craftsperson still quietly doing their work. We have those details. We live inside them.

What We Do

What We're Building

  • City walks led by local students, designed to take international visitors into the real Beijing.
  • A trusted information platform for expats navigating life in the city.
  • Ongoing opportunities for genuine exchange between Chinese and international young people, online and offline.
  • Content that documents the cultural stories Beijing is losing — and the ones it's still creating.

Chill

We are students at the University of International Relations, with backgrounds spanning international politics, foreign languages, communications, and cultural studies. Some of us grew up in Beijing. Some came from other cities to study here. Some have lived abroad; some haven't left yet. What we share is the same curiosity about this city — and the same belief that real connection is worth building.

Get in Touch
